The Mall of America Phase II development is needed now because of the following:
- Our local, regional and State economy is in dire need of a boost with many businesses struggling with sales and revenues way down.
- Our construction trades need the work! The Mall project would employ a vast range of subcontractors and trades people from concrete, steel, interior finishes, mechanical and electrical. The stadiums and 35W bridge only employ a limited range of people typically in the concrete and steel industry. (You don't have a need for a sheet metal worker on a bridge for example)
- Our local subcontractors are having to send their best people out of town to remain employed. This has a dramatic affect on their home life not to mention missing out on their kid's soccer games!
- Over 500 businesses from around the state will be involved with the largest construction job in the State of Minnesota. This is not just a Bloomington initiative.
